What Is the Rescue Doctrine and When Does it Apply?

An emergency scenario can erupt at any moment. In a situation where another person’s life is in danger, it’s human nature to want to save them, even if it means you’ll get injured in the process. When that happens, you’re protected by the Rescue Doctrine.

The Rescue Doctrine states that when someone else causes a crisis, if you attempt to save a person in danger and receive injuries or die, the person who caused the danger is liable for your injuries or death. Since that person is liable, you can receive compensation for any injuries that you received while voluntarily trying to save another person from serious injury or death.

What Are Some of the More Uncommon Effects of Grief?

You’ve heard of the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. But what about the uncommon parts of grief that you haven’t heard about? When you go through a traumatic event, whether it’s a breakup, divorce, or death of a loved one, you might experience grief in a way that you don’t recognize.

It’s important to remember that everyone experiences grief differently, so your grieving process might look differently compared to your friend or loved one who is grieving the exact same event. If grief, or bereavement, has taken control of your whole life and has left you feeling like you have nothing, you should seek professional help. A therapist can give you ways to cope with your mental suffering and help you sort through your feelings.

With Less Truckers on the Road, Will More Accidents Happen?

We’ve all driven past truckers on the highway or local roads. Though you might not have realized, there has been a decline in the trucking industry this year. Over 3,000 truck drivers have lost their jobs in 2019, especially truck drivers for small businesses, as reported by Business Insider.

A whopping 640 commercial trucking companies went bankrupt in just the first half of this year, which is over triple the number from the same time last year. This fall in business was caused by many factors, as told by Business Insider, including a drop in consumer spending, cost of insurance, decline in goods shipped, and the amount of drivers being over capacity.

The Dangers of Tunnel Vision When Behind the Wheel

While driving, it’s crucial for the driver to be focused manually, cognitively, auditorily, and visually. This means that their hands are on the wheel, their mind is on the task at hand, they’re listening for possible hazards, and their eyes are alert and focused on what’s in front of them. When there are deficiencies in any one of those elements, that driver could cause an accident. Collisions in Cincinnati are particularly dangerous because of the amount of traffic on the road at any given time.

When a driver with tunnel vision operates their vehicle, they are doing so while visually impaired. They don’t have the ability to see what’s going on around them, only in front of them. When this happens, it’s easy for a crash to occur. It’s important for all drivers to understand the dangers of tunnel vision behind the wheel. This awareness can help prevent wrecks and save lives.

Staying in a hospital after a serious car accident is a possibility if your injuries are severe. During this time, you’ll have round the clock care and won’t have to worry about necessities like nutrition and bathing. However, when you go home, you will become responsible for these tasks again. You may be out of the hospital, but you could still need some form of care or assistance at home.
