Joe Morris III is Of Counsel at the firm.
He started The Morris Firm in 2009, focusing on government relations, assisting clients in lobbying, local government, procurements and vendor relationships. He also advocates on behalf of large and small businesses. He prides himself on understanding our clients, business and issues to achieve success and establish long term cooperation between people, businesses and local government.
Prior to the establishment of The Morris Firm, Joe served as a Senior Associate at Ahmann, a public policy firm dedicated to solving local issues. At Ahmann, Joe provided strategic support for the Atlanta Committee for Progress (ACP), an association of top business and academic leaders brought together to collaborate with the Mayor of Atlanta to solve economic development initiatives and business recruitment. While at Ahmann, Joe worked on the Atlanta Beltline, Brand Atlanta and the Peachtree Streetcar projects.
Joe served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Shirley Franklin. As Deputy Chief of Staff, Joe managed the intergovernmental relations and international affairs office, lobbied the city council on legislative and budgetary issues, worked with companies to help them navigate and understand the governmental process and worked with the city departments to create policy to meet their needs.
Joe also served as the Telecommunications Manager in the Mayor’s Office and he was also an attorney with the Atlanta City Court Public Defender’s Office.
Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Morehouse College and a Juris Doctors degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. A member of the state bar of Georgia since 1996, Joe has lived in the Atlanta area for 22 years and is married to Dekalb County State Court Judge Shondeana Morris. They have two children, Joe and Harmony.
